Due to an unseasonal extreme rain event in the Goondiwindi region this week, the Goondiwindi Motor Sports Association in conjunction with the ARB Off Road Racing Series committee has made the decision to postpone the Albins ARB Goondiwindi 400.
As of today, the track is impassable in many locations. Much of the surrounding property, roads and access tracks are also impassable, potentially making recovery and medical access an issue. With the potential of another rain event before the race, the club have had to make this tough decision.
GMA have rescheduled the event to the weekend of 31st October – 1st November.
“The track has received a substantial amount of rain in the past week and with rain forecast for the coming week, the club decided it was in everyone’s best interest to make a decision early” explained Joe Bulmer, GMA President.
“Rescheduling does have an impact on the ARB Off Road Racing Series, as it now makes Goondiwindi the fourth and final round and the Teagle Excavations ARB Pines Enduro the third round. It also means that the end of year ARB Off Road Racing Series awards and presentation for this year will be at Goondiwindi, not Millicent” said Brett Price, ARB ORRS Facilitator.
Murray Rogers, Clerk of the Course for the Albins ARB Goondiwindi 400 added “55 teams have already nominated which puts the event in a good position for a bumper field. We will be contacting the teams to advise them of the process but hope that they will support the event on its new date”.
For those teams that have booked accommodation, GMA ask that you contact them as soon as possible to limit the impact on the town.
As more details become available, ARB Off Road Racing Series registered competitors and teams that have entered the Albins ARB Goondiwindi 400 will be kept up to date via email.
