After a lengthy off season, Narva Racings Mick Magher and Daniel Hose are champing at the bit to get back behind the wheel for this weekends first round of the ARB Off Road Racing Series, the Paringa 400 being held in Broken Hill. The duo drove their V8 powered #882 GU Patrol to equal first in the Extreme 4WD Class, alongside fellow Victorian Owen Ward in 2013 and are looking forward to the rivalry continuing, as well as developing some new ones this season.
While the Paringa 400 is a new addition to the offroad racing calendar, Magher has some experience in the region up his sleeve, with four Outback Challenges under his belt. However he will also face stiff competition from cross country specialists Reg Owen and the local, Kerry Turley who are Silver City 1000 regulars.
“We can’t wait to check out the new track. We’ve always enjoyed heading up to Broken Hill for the Outback’s and we are looking forward to opening the throttle at an offroad event through the magic terrain that surrounds the Silver City.” Said Mick
“The Patrol spent most of the summer on display as we have been working flat out on our new car, but when we saw this wasn’t going to be completed in time we rolled the trusty Narva Racing GU Patrol back into the workshop for a bit of a birthday and she is now ready to go. The transmission and diffs have been freshened up and we have developed our suspension package further by tweaking the spring rates and shocks. There are a few more ponies under the bonnet too, thanks to Spencer Race Engines and Proflow Geelong.” Continued Mick.
“I’m really lucky to have Daniel Hose as part of the team. We both have put a big effort into the V8 GU Patrol, but it is fantastic to have someone who understands the kind of punishment the Patrol is about to receive working on the car.”
Narva will be continuing to light the way for Mick Magher Motorsports in 2014, with another ARB Series partner joining the team, with Cooper Tires slipping a set of 35×12.5R17 Cooper Discover STT’s under the big blue GU.
“With their tough sidewalls and cut and chip resistant tread compound, the Cooper’s will be well suited to the terrain out at Broken Hill and I’m excited about running them this season.” Said Mick
While the Narva Racing transporter will be hard to miss in the pits, keep an eye out for the adventures of the teams latest recruit, Nigel the Narva Racing Gnome as Mick Magher and Daniel Hose travel the country this season competing in all five rounds of the ARB Off Road Racing Series.
The ARB Paringa 400 kicks off this Friday afternoon 50km north of Broken Hill with documentation and scrutiny, before the racing commences on Saturday with the Prologue from 12:30pm, followed by a single lap of the new track that afternoon. Sunday sees the action continue with four more laps kicking off at 8:30am.
