15/12/2012: When edition 27 goes on sale next Wednesday it caps off another massive year in the dirt, mud and rocks for the Dirtcomp Team. 2011 has taken us to all corners of the country covering offroad racing, 4WD and ATV events and overseas for the first time to cover the Taupo 1000 in New Zealand. We have featured trophy trucks, buggies and 4WD comp cars built both here and overseas and brought you tech articles and build ups to inspire you latest projects.
Looking ahead to 2012 we have another exciting year planned and have some technically awe inspiring offroad masterpieces in the pipeline for the new year. I must also thank our team of photographers and contributors for standing in the sun, dust, sleet and rain - sometimes all on the same weekend to capture the moments that make our sport in the dust special.
Don't forget our "Win a set of Lightforce Genesis HID's" competition closes on Dec 31st, get your subscriptions in quick so you don't miss out on the draw!
See you at the track

E27: Tough Tracks 4x4 Challenge |
Saturdays tracks were held near the front of the Springs, making it easily accessible for the spectators to catch the action. Track one for the modified class was set out on a hillside comprising of large bare slabs of rock. Creating some extreme angles if not tackled in a straight up and down route, as the blue dual cab Hilux found to his dismay.
The white GQ wagon destroyed his sills as he smashed his way up and over the rocky obstacles but didn’t seem too worried by his lack of sliders.

E27: Kuhn's Aussie Trophy Truck |
Under the silhoutee of Anthony Kuhn’s Toyota Tundra lies a desert thoroughbred. Packing Chevy power up front and massive wheel travel all round, the truck which rolled out of the Micklefab workshop in Sydney, captures the essence of the Amercian Trophy Truck and applies it to the terrain in our own backyard.
The spark for the Tundra Aussie TT project began when Anthony Kuhn shipped the Bond Roll Bars stadium truck he had been campaigning in North Queensland down to Gavin Mickle for a birthday.

E27: Australian 4x4 Muster |
Boasting 14km of Murray River frontage, the 8000 acre Loveday 4x4 Adventure Park is a favourite weekend getaway for many South Australians, not only for its magnificent camping facilities but also for the events Tony Whateley hosts during the year.
In contrast to the high flying action at the Riverland Challenge and Mud, Dust and Music, the Australian 4x4 Muster was a family orientated event where fun was the number one priority of the weekend.

This unique event has seen a number of Condobolin locals shine over the years with star performances both at home and in bigger rallies such as the Wynn’s Safari. One of Condo’s star performers is Jason Pearce, and armed with “Black Betty” he’s really beginning to shine.
A long time admirer of the late Peter Brock, Pearce started his motorsport career at eighteen racing open wheel speedway in 250cc Midgets.31 entrants including Mihailoff, Parker, Scanlon, Cameron and co. converged on Broken Hill to pit their skills and machinery against the colourful outback terrain.
