Welcome to the biggest edition of Dirtcomp we have produced. It is absolutely bursting at the seams with some of Australia’s biggest offroad and 4WD Events. Ranging from the Tattersall’s Finke Desert Race in Alice Springs to the Tough Dog Tuff Truck Challenge in Milbrodale. While still keeping tabs on what’s happening just around the corner. We also feature in this edition three immaculately prepared competition vehicles. Darren Webster’s labour of love, a V8 powered Rav packed withall the fruit and a finish that makes it look as if it rolled off the showroom floor. Along with Hayden Bentley’s2007 Australian Offroad Championship winning Chevy powered Jimco and Mark Mitchell’s “Godzooka” Tuff Truck that would be as comfortable at an Autosalon as it is on the track.
On the technical side of things, regular contributor Steve Tjepkema jumps on board a CCDA Bootcamp, aimed at getting winch challenge teams up to speed. We also take the time in this editions tech section to focus on the life blood of engines - oil! To top it off there is the latest in offroad motorsport news and don’t forget to fill update your wish list with the latest products and classifieds. In the hours leading up to the start of the 2008 Tough Dog Tuff Truck Challenge, the entry lanes to the Milbrodale event site were bulging at the seams. Jammed with guys, girls and families eager to see Australia’s tuffest 4WD’s tested to their limits and beyond. And when the gates opened on Friday morning, the crowd flooded in, rushing to secure a prime position for the next three days entertainment. 
Last year what was a hotly contested series this year looks as though it is destined to be bigger and better. 2007 series champion Pete Mihailloff took a sideline seat at Round 1 with some spectating and made room for at least ten other teams ready and capable of stepping up to the plate and taking his place in 2008. 
The Queens birthday long weekend in June saw Australia’s offroad racers make their annual pilgrimage to the red centre to tackle the Tattersall’s Finke Desert Race. The “Finke” has built a reputation of being one of the true adventures in Australian motorsport.
