Tyre Test: Toyo Open Country ATII’s

Toyo Open Country A/T II Dirtcomp Tyre Test

The Toyo Open Country ATII’s have just been released in Australia and we’ve just placed a set on our 200 Series Landcruiser to test over the coming months on our latest monster road trip which includes Tuff Truck, the first round of the ARB Offroad Series and the Condo 750 Cross Country Rally. Look out for a full report coming up soon in Dirtcomp and also on our Facebook page.

The test program we have in store will torture the new rubber in all aspects – from puncture resistance and grip offroad through to it’s highway performance and wet weather handling getting to and from the events.

Compared to it’s predecessor the new generation A/T II is more aggressive, featuring distinctive staggered and scalloped shoulder buttresses for better off-road bite. The tread profile has been optimised for better contact pressure distribution to reduce uneven wear, while tie bars between the outer blocks help resist shoulder wear.Fringed edges on the tread blocks aid initial traction, and wide grooves between the blocks improve mud performance and stone ejection. Open Country A/T II has two layers of joint-less spiral cap ply for improved puncture-resistance, while thicker rubber on the upper sidewalls improves bruise resistance.
