Round 2 of the Mickey Thompson SSS Winch Challenge Series was held at Landcruiser Mountain Park over the weekend just gone and even with a bit of rain it didn’t dampen the spirts as 19 teams from near and far set out to take on the stages set over the course of Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Stages kicked off on Friday night after briefing and it was straight into the action with some side by side style racing. An unfortunate mishap for Mitch and Cam in the Goldylox Racing Landcruiser with a roll on SS1 resulting in a DNF and DNS for SS2. A great run for the CBT Racing GQ of Christian and Terry who took out both stage wins.

Saturday teams headed into 3 long stages involving creek runs, water, navigation, multiple winches, tight tricky tracks and mud. The creek of SS3 got the better of some with the very deep water and sandy bottom causing a few teams to winch right from the get go. However not for Christian and Terry in the CBT Racing GQ who took out the stage win. SS4 and SS5 were once again set in a side by side style, however one tracks wrecked more havoc than the other as the mud got thicker and thicker and saw more than half the field DNF. Another stage win for Christian and Terry in the CBT Racing GQ on SS4 and a stage win for Josh and Tim in the Rusty Nuts Racing GQ on SS5.

Sunday morning sent team into 2 winch stages with multiple quick winches and tight tricky turns. A few winch problems across the field saw multiple DNF as teams gave it everything they had to get through the stages and complete the weekend. Stage win on SS6 went to David and Spencer in the Locked Up Racing GQ and SS7 to the CBT Racing GQ of Christian and Terry.

After a gruelling weekend of racing the tops spots went to Carl and Michael from Dial A Truck Racing (GQ) on 495 points in 3rd, David and Spencer from Locked Up Racing (GQ) on 615 points in 2nd and Christian & Terry from CBT Racing (GQ) on 665 points in 1st.

Round 3 dates have been set for the 23 – 25 October 2015 at Landcruiser Mountain Park.
