Entries for the 40th anniversary Tatts Finke Desert Race reached the cut off car entry limit today quicker than a Pro Class buggy can get from Alice Springs to Finke and back. Following the trend of the moto category a couple of weeks ago which reached its capacity of 600 in less than 9 hours, the Car entry list swelled to the 110 car limit in just 3.5 hours, with another 16 already on the waiting list just after the cut off.
2014 Kings of the Desert, Shannon and Ian Rentsch headline the 32 Pro Class entries, along with last years runners up, Jack Rhodes and David Pullino. They will be joined at the start line by formers Kings, Mark Burrows, Hayden Bentley (in his new Racer Engineering Trophy Truck), Greg Gartner in his Ford F150 and Brad Gallard in the Peter Kittle Motorsport Jimco TT.
Bringing an international flavour to the race will be Dale Dondel, owner of Racer Engineering in the USA, who is penciled in to drive the #18 Bentley Motorsport single seater.
Cooling their heels on the waiting list are a number of Finke regulars including Bryce Chapman, Daniel Attard, Bruce Muir, Steven Jentsch. While NZ’s Raana Horan and Polaris Rally Ace Cody Crocker are another two high profile drivers on the side line.
