TOYO TIRES ANNOUNCES STADIUM SUPER TRUCKS SPONSORSHIP

Toyo Tires has acquired the naming rights sponsorship of the Australian debut of Stadium Super Trucks at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide.

The Clipsal 500 round of the V8 Supercars series starting on February 26 will see a full competition round of the Toyo Tires Stadium Super Trucks Presented by Traxxas run over three days on the Adelaide street circuit.

The Stadium Super Trucks race on Toyo’s Open Country A/T II as their control tyre.

Also available to consumers, the state-of-the-art all-terrain tyre features improved wear and puncture resistance, with an aggressive tread pattern and innovative compound providing superior grip in on and off-road applications.

Toyo Tires Stadium Super Trucks will see 10 high profile local and international drivers racing side by side in high powered off-road trucks. The trucks approach speeds of up to 240km/h and ramps launch trucks five metres into the air and 40 metres down the track.

Recently returned from South America following a final stage win at the Dakar Rally, SST founder, seven-time off-road world champion and Team Toyo member Robby Gordon is excited to launch the series in Australia.

“The growth of the Stadium Super Trucks Series has been incredible,” he said.

“For us to take our series outside North America for the first time is a really big deal, so we were very selective in choosing the event.

“The Clipsal 500 is one of the biggest and best entertainment events in Australia, so for us it was a perfect fit.

“Stadium Super Trucks is harsh on tyres and the Open Country A/T II tyres take everything we can throw at them. There isn’t much I haven’t put these tyres through.”

Gordon said the one thing he had no issues with over 9000km of the 2015 Dakar Rally was his Toyo tyres.

“In fact, we have not had an issue with our Toyo tyres for more than three years in the Dakar Rally, which is amazing given the harsh terrain and the amount of punishment they are put through.”

Toyo Tyres Australia marketing manager Jose Angeles said Stadium Super Trucks will reinforce the off-road credentials of Toyo’s Open Country brand.

“Toyo Tyres Australia Limited has a legacy of supporting emerging motorsports, from drifting to off-road racing,” he said.

“The demanding nature of Stadium Super Truck racing is the ideal showcase for demonstrating the versatility and durability of the Open County A/T II tyre.

“The V8 Supercars crowd will love the drama and spectacle of this new racing style.”

Toyo’s Open Country A/T II is available now in popular sizes, and the range will soon be expanded to 31 sizes – most available in a light-truck construction.
