Queenslander Billy Geddes has defied all the odds and has completed the 2014 Tatts Finke Desert course twice, driving a Trophy Truck and riding a bike.
This double effort, unique in the event’s 39 year history, was made possible by Geddes using a helicopter between the Alice Springs start and the overnight stop at Finke on both days of the event.
In all he covered 904 competitive kilometres in the car and on the bike plus another 452 kilometres in the chopper.
The super fit competitor drove his Geiser Bros Trophy Truck to seventh outright and second in the Extreme 2WD Class in a total time of 3 hours 54 minutes and 58 seconds and backed it up with 211th in the bike field on his KTM in a time of 6 hours 46 minutes and 7 seconds.
Speaking after his epic achievement Geddes said ‘he was a bit gob smacked to be here” (at the finish line).
He said his feat had brought the car and motorcycle competitors together and that he had received enormous support from both his car crew and the KTM bike team.
