Nitto Aust 4 Round 1 – Janowen Stampede Taking Shape

Aust4 Stadium taking shape

Part of the draw card to the Nitto Tyres Aust4 Racing Series is the first round’s prologue stadium and the ability for teams to race side-by-side under lights. The first sods of rich and loamy soil have been turned and the result is shaping up to be the only offroad racing stadium of it’s kind in Australia.

The past weekend saw the arrival of our heavy earth moving fleet. A D6 bulldozer has worked hard over the last three days to begin the transformation of the stadium grounds into a one-of-a-kind arena with over 600 cubic meters of soil being used to shape cambered corners, endless whoops, over-sized drop-offs and a 15 meter long, 4 meter high start/finish tabletop.

The stadium itself will be fully lit and the tiered grassy spectator area will accommodate over 3000 people, or up to 200 vehicles parked to watch the prologue.

Once the stadium has been used for the Friday night Prologue, sections will be opened up for use on the Saturday’s main race, giving spectators the chance to view the same action during day light hours as the teams drive the 1km stadium as part of their over 19km loops.

Also developed this week was a further addition of approximately 2km more of race track to the already 17km long course. With this new addition, there is also the benefit of another rocky gully for the Aust4 buggies and Modified vehicles. This brings a total of around 15 km’s of fast, two car wide trails – as well as 4km’s of various grades of rock gullies, ledges and step-ups. This new addition will also suit the UTV racers and the Stock class vehicles with fast and flowing corners and nice wide passing opportunities.

As we gain a momentum of online registrations for the first round, we are leaking photos of the stadium development to our official facebook page. With stage one of the earth works complete, the remainder of the course obstacles will be lovingly shaped in the coming weeks.

At this stage, six weeks out from the Janowen Stampede, we are finalizing our course signage with Nitto Tyres, our series naming rights sponsor.

An opportunity exists for another brand to take ownership of the offroad stadium, this deal would seal the rights over the arena for 12 months and gain exposure to 1000’s of 4wd users monthly. The area will gain constant attention from 4wd clubs, weekend tourers, rock crawling competitors and UTV racers. Once the team from the Nitto Tyres Aust4 Racing Series have put the finishing touches on the course, we will hand over the management of the stadium to Janowen Hills 4WD Park and allow them to offer the area to other event organizers and racers.

The area will be suitable for side-by-side timed racing and vehicles like the Polaris’ and other branded UTVs will excel in the man-made environment.
