The 2014 Hedweld Milbrodale Mountain Classic has been conducted for 28 years and has become one of the most prestigious events on the NSW Off Road Racing Calendar, attracting a field of 70 local and interstate entrants.

It was a very action filled weekend at the 2014 Hedweld Milbrodale Mountain Classic. Saturday saw the running of prologue and Race 1 of medium course. Gerald Reid lead the way on day 1 with fast and furious competition following. The day was full of action for spectators which included lost wheels, roll overs, rock & tree kisses and plenty of sideways action.

Sunday started with drivers briefing and the talented Hayley Langley performed her new hit single, (Milbrodale Mountain Ride). Day 2 did not disappoint with more action for not only our competitors out on the track but also our sideline spectators who certainly received value for money. Spectators enjoyed 4 a breast start in race 3 for the short course. It was tight, fast, furious and a little bit hectic over the first jump and into the first corner. After lunch the entire field left the arena to tackle the mountain for Race 4, long course. As always the Mountain is unforgiving and we saw many casualties with only 30% of the field finishing the full distance. After Gerald Reid suffered track side issues (as the car dehydrated), Damien Penfold took the lead and remained focused all day to take outright honours. However, Gerald Reid fought back in the long course race to defend his title as Man of the Mountain (being fastest single long course lap). Congratulations to Damien and Gerald for their friendly and competitive racing over the weekend. Also, a big congratulation to all competitors that tackled the mountain! It’s one tough event!

A huge thank you to our sponsors, Hedweld Group of Companies, Bulga Coal, Southern Cross Austereo, Newcastle Herald, Myne Signs, TJM Hunter Valley and our class sponsors who generously support this event.

As always the Milbrodale Mountain Classic was generously supported by the local community with the Bulga Community Centre, Bulga Bush Fire Brigade, Milbrodale Public School all assisting while benefiting from the event.

This event could not be conducted without the generosity of the land owners who allow us to run this great event on their property. During the weekend we managed to raise money for very worthy causes, Witmore Enterprises & CanTeen.
