Sports fans will be treated to one of the greatest nights of dirt action ever seen in Australia with Robby Gordon’s Stadium Super Trucks and the country’s leading Ultimate Sprintcar drivers putting on a classic double-header at Valvoline Raceway in Sydney on Saturday, October 31.
Originally scheduled to race at Spotless Stadium, Sydney Showground, the high flying myPlates Stadium Super Trucks – will now run on the same program as round four of the Ultimate Sprintcar Championship at the Wentworth Street, Granville venue, with the event to be presented by the Daily Telegraph.
Valvoline Raceway, formerly known as Parramatta City Raceway, has undergone a 12-month capital works program valued at more than $2 million. Upgraded fan services, corporate and bar facilities and an in-house media production unit have helped transform the venue.
While the Ultimate Sprintcars will race on their regular clay oval, the myPlates Stadium Super Trucks will use a combination of dirt jumps and ramps to create a unique and spectacular circuit on the infield. “We had fans who were desperate to come to see the Stadium Super Trucks and Ultimate Sprintcar fans who were disappointed they would be missing their Saturday night fix, so it made sense to put them both together,” said Geoff Jones from TEG Live, the event promoter. “To be honest, we had not considered the Valvoline Raceway as an original venue, but more and more people kept telling us what a transformation has occurred at the place thanks to the new ownership. “After we checked out the venue and had talks with Managing Director, Steven Green, it was clear that both parties wanted to make something happen. “The result is an event which will provide even greater value for the fans and twice as much spectacular entertainment – you can’t argue with that.”
The myPlates Stadium Super Trucks are the brainchild of Robby Gordon and are set to thrill fans at next weekend’s Castrol Gold Coast 600 before heading to Valvoline Raceway. They are purpose-built machines with 600 horsepower that are capable of reaching speeds in excess of 200kph. Valvoline Raceway fans will see them jump up to three storeys high and nearly 80 metres in distance.
Valvoline Raceway was established in 1977 and has played host to some of the world’s greatest speedway stars including USC legend Max Dumesny, who has won Australian Championships in both Sprintcars and NASCAR, along with the King of the Outlaws Steve Kinser and modern day icons like Donny Schatz.
Gordon will lead the team of international Stadium Super Truck drivers, who are keen to get one over their Australian combatants.
“The response we have had to what we are doing at Valvoline Raceway has been fantastic and we are bringing people back to speedway racing,” said Steven Green.
“The myPlates Stadium Super Trucks are a different product to what we normally offer, but they will be comfortably at home at our venue which will allow for one hell of a track to be built on the in-field. Add the Ultimate Sprintcars and the ultimate winners will be the fans – and I am sure there will be plenty of them.
“This also goes hand in hand with our goal of making Valvoline Raceway a multi-use facility for all types of events.”
Tickets for the night will start at just $40 and public transport will be available to the Clyde and Granville Stations with a shuttle bus running directly to the venue’s front gate.
myPlates Stadium Super Trucks Fans around the world will be able to tune into the event through Valvoline Raceway’s “Clay-Per-View” Online video streaming, which will cost $29.99 for the night.
Existing ticket holders from Spotless Stadium are able to attend the event at Valvoline Raceway and will be credited with the difference between the reduced ticket price and that of the ticket they originally purchased.
All existing ticket holders will be contacted in the next week by Ticketek who will arrange the credit.
