Sporties 12 Hour Launch

The Sporties Twelve Hour Enduro kicked off with scrutiny tonight, bringing the the Todd Mall in the centre of Alice Springs to life. The event boasts a unique format where the clock determines the length of the race, not the number of kilometres and the fact cars are paired up into teams. The teams must consist of two different class vehicles e.g. Probuggy and Extreme 4WD and no driver may race more than 70% of the distance, making it interesting if one of the two vehicles breaks down early in the event. Organisers predict that the leading teams will clock up well over 1000km of racing over the 12 hour period, making it a formidable task to just reach the chequered flag. Entries include the Probuggies of Jason Adami in the Porter, Danny Auricht, Andrew Mowles and Craig Prettlejohn in their Razorbacks plus the trucks of Beau Robinson and Anthony Kuhn to name just a few.

Action kicks off tomorrow 35km out of town at the Alice Springs Offroad Club with the Prologue for the cars and also a 6 hour enduro for the quads. Sunday sees the twelve hour enduro run from 8am till 8pm, with the cars and bikes running simultaneously on separate tracks. Trophy Karts will also make their debut at the event across the weekend.
